I spent several days chasing Pintail Ducks at our local conservation wetlands in February 2026. It had been unseasonably warm for a few days in a row followed by a real cold night, the next morning was really foggy as the water surface temp was quite a bit warmer than the air, as sunrise came and warming the air the fog started to burn off and the Pintail started arriving. The very spot they decided to land on/in had this magical glow from the sun reflecting off the water, proving you have to be out there so lady luck can find you every now & then.
